Repeat Prescriptions

Keele Health Centre has an on–site dispensary where patients can have their prescription dispensed if they live over 1.6 km (as the crow flies) from a pharmacy. Anyone not living over 1.6km from a pharmacy will be given a prescription to take to their local pharmacy.

Electronic Prescribing of Prescriptions

If you would like your prescription to go electronically to a pharmacy in England (not available in any other parts of the UK), please go into the pharmacy of your choice and ask them to nominate their pharmacy on your medical records. This will ensure that your prescription goes to the correct pharmacy. If you change your nominated pharmacy temporarily (eg if a student goes home or you are on holiday), you must remember to change it back.

Ordering repeat prescriptions

If you take medication on a long–term basis, you can ask for a repeat prescription by ringing the surgery. You can also call in and ask at the dispensary. Your prescription will be available for you to pick up in two working days. You can also order your repeat prescription online or by an app on your phone. If you wish to do this please ask reception for the forms to register you for this service. When you have registered you will be able to order your repeat prescription 24 hours a day but please allow 48 working hours for this to be processed. You will be able to check on the app/online when your prescription has been processed and also be able to view your previous orders and make appointments on-line

EMERGENCY PRESCRIPTIONS

If you need a repeat prescription in an emergency please advise the dispenser, so that she can arrange for you to collect either the medication or the prescription as soon as possible. Please do not order this via the app/online. If you have your drugs dispensed at the practice and the drug that you require is not in stock you can take the prescription to a pharmacy where they will be able to dispense it for you. If you require the "morning after pill" please ring reception and they will arrange an appointment with either the doctor or nurse urgently or go to a local pharmacy. If you require an emergency prescription when the surgery is closed, ring the surgery phone number and you will be re-directed to 111 or go to a local pharmacy who is able to give this to you.
